The Bauchi State House of Assembly on Tuesday called on the State Government to rehabilitate vandalised electric equipment in some communities in the state.
The assembly made the call following a motion presented at a plenary by a member representing Lere Bula constituency, Mr Abdulrashid Muazu (APC).
He noted that some communities have long suffered in darkness as a result of vandalization and theft of installed electric equipment at various locations.
“Thereby causing so much hardship to them and their means of livelihood in my constituency, the communities include,Bununu, Gital, Burga, Dull, Maigemu, Boto, Maijuju-Tasha, Gabgyel, Gwashe and Kardam.
“All micro businesses undertaking by
People in these communities are running below installed capacity and, in most cases, incurring losses.
“Because they cannot compete in local markets due to high cost of production as a result of running businesses using diesel or premium motor spirit (PMS).
Mr Ibrahim Burra (Burra Constituency) PDP in seconding the motion said that the importance attached to rehabilitation of rural electricity is immeasurable.

The house unanimously adopted the motion by calling on the executive arm of government to commence a comprehensive rehabilitation of all vandalised electric equipment at various communities in the state.
