An NGO Azurfa Women and Youth in Bauchi collaborating with Attah Sisters Helping Hand Foundation Institute of peace building, (ASSHF) has moved to fight bullying and by-standing among students in Bauchi Schools.
Speaking during advocacy and sensitisation in Schools of Bogoro local government area weekend,the founder of Azurfa Women and Youth Mrs Monica Tanko, said bullying had become a major problem with serious consequences for students’ lives and society.
She explained that bullying refers to repeated aggressive behavior, typically occurring in a power imbalance, where an individual or group intentionally seeks to harm, Intimidate, or control another person.
“Bullying can take various forms, including physical, verbal, social, or cyberbullying, and it often occurs in schools, workplaces, communities, or online platforms.
“Bullying behavior can stem from various factors, including individual and environmental influences.,” She said.
On his part Mr Samuel Mbutyum Yohanna the programme of the project noted that bullying could have destructive consequences for young people, adding ‘’it’s not something we have to accept in our communities.
“That is why are involved in sensitization of pupils and students towards addressing and preventing bullying
“Which requires a collective effort from individuals, communities, and institutions. Strategies to stop bullying,” she said.
According to him ,promoting awareness and educating individuals about the negative impact of bullying, its consequences, and the importance of empathy and respect for others.
“Encouraging open communication creates safe spaces for individuals to report bullying incidents and ensures that they are heard and supported.
He said Peace Club were Established in the two schools with attendance 21 student from Central Central primary school Lisa and 21 student from government day secondary school Bogoro students
In their remark, Chairman Bogoro Council, Education secretary of the Council and the Principal of the secondary School have commended the NGOs for such initiative, with a promise to give all.necessary support needed to the project.
