SON arrest man for alleged unwholesome practice on fertiliser in Bauchi

The Standard Organisations of Nigeria (SON) has arrested a man suspected for alleged unwholesome practice of fertiliser in Chinade village in Katagum local government area of Bauchi State.

The State coordinator of the Organissation Mr Murtala Saad, stated this in an interview with Journalists on Tuesday In Bauchi.

He said the suspect Mr Ibrahim Chinade was arrested at Chinade for engaging in an allegedly unwholesome practice of mixing fertiliser of different brands in one bag and selling it to farmers.

“We got a hint that someone is selling unwholesome fertiliser mixing and moved to arrest the suspect.

“The suspect was arrested mixing indorama, Mairago, freedom Bunkarsar gonna, among others and rebranding into Golden Fertiliser bags before selling it to farmers.

“We warn farmers against buying fertiliser into the open market, urging them to consult market leaders or professionals because of the dangers involved,” Saad said.

The coordinator reiterated the commitment of SON not to relent in fighting against unscrupulous elements who persist in defrauding citizens through their dubious acts.

According to him, the suspect Ibrahim Chinade confessed to his crime but claimed that it was not an offense, we will charge him to court for prosecution.

He assured that the organisation will continue to intensify efforts to apprehend criminals perpetrating such acts through discreet information gathering.

Saad urged fertiliser dealers to always do the right thing selling the right products to consumers and farmers.

He therefore,urge the general public to provide useful information in supporting the battle against substandard products and unwholesome practice to SON for curbing the menace.
