The Jigawa state police command has warned citizens against illegeal horse riding in the area.
In a statement released by the Police Public Relations officer Jigawa state revealed that On 10/06/2023 at about 2015hrs, information at our disposal revealed that, one Mohd Mustapha ‘m’ age 25yrs of Unguwar Maina, a horse rider without authorization, riding his horse within Ringim municipality causing a nuisance to the society in general.
While he was riding his horse, he lost control of the horse and hit a cyclist by the name of Umar Hassan ‘m’ age 70yrs of Galadanchi Quarters, at Tsigi Quarters, all in Ringim LGA.
As a result, the cyclist sustained various degrees of injuries and fractures on his left leg and shoulder.
A team of policemen rushed to the scene and conveyed the victim to Ringim General Hospital where he was confirmed dead by Medical Doctor while receiving treatment.
The corpse was handed over to the relatives for burial.
The suspect was arrested and properly detained in Police custody.
The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of a discreet investigation at SCID Dutse.
The Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Police Command, CP Effiom Emmanuel Ekot calls on parents to warn their children to desist from illegal horse riding across the state, as the command will not hesitate to clamp down on any violators. He further consoles the immediate family and relatives and prays for the departed soul to have eternal peace.
