“Nigeria can no longer feed smugglers and act like father Christmas to neighbouring countries” President Tinubu defends subsidy removal

Nigeria’s president Bola Ahmed Tinubu has defended hos decision to remove petroleum subsidy in the country.

 

According to the president, the country can no longer act too generous to other neighbouring countries at the detriment of Nigeria amd Nigerians.

 

He said

‘‘I am grateful that you are paying attention to what I have been doing. You have paid attention to the subsidy removal. Why should we in good heart and sense, feed smugglers and be Father Christmas to neighbouring countries, even though they say not every day is Christmas?’’
