Tamale- Executive Secretary of Ghana Hajj Secretariat leads orientation sessions for prospective pilgrims across the country

The Ghana Hajj Board has begun its orientation program for prospective pilgrims across the country begin from the Northern part of Ghana comprising Northern Region, Upper East Region, Upper West Region, North East Region, Savannah Region, northern part of Bono East and part of Oti Region.

The Executive Secretary of the Ghana Hajj Secretariat Alhaji Farouk Hamza is leading the team in embarking on the orientation of prospective pilgrims as part of the secretariat’s innovative approach in making the operations of Hajj from Ghana a smooth and worthy of emulation.

Since the creation of the Secretariat headed by Alhaji Farouk Hamza, the organisation of every aspect of the Hajj operations has thus far, seen a tremendous classical approach in Hajj management like Digitization of payments of Hajj fares, re-organisation of Hajj agents relationship with the Hajj secretariat, constant engagements with Saudi Arabia authorities, orientation of prospective pilgrims and many others which is so far leading to a successful Hajj in June.

The orientation sessions is on general knowledge on performance of Hajj, health education, type of items to carry on the journey and other important aspects of the spiritual exercise that fulfils ones pilgrimage in the sight of Allah.

The prospective pilgrims went through medical screening by officials of the health department of the Ghana Hajj Board headed by Dr. Seidu Zakaria to ensure pilgrims perform the Hajj without health implications and complications, Dawah on Hajj and other related topics on Hajj pilgrimage.

The orientation sessions started on May 25, 2023 in Yendi were prospective pilgrims from the Yendi enclave turn out in their numbers and it was successful.

The session continued in Tamale at the GNAT hall bringing a large number of pilgrims belonging to Hajj agents earmarked for that day.

Islamic scholars with in- depth knowledge on Hajj and Umrah lectured and preached ( Dawah) to the pilgrims on how their pilgrimage will be accepted by Allah.

A member of the Ghana Hajj Board communication department for the Northern Regions, Alhaji Eliasu Haruna who is monitoring the sessions said all is fine with enthusiasm from the prospective pilgrims as they cooperate well with the orientation team.

Alhaji Eliasu Haruna said this is unprecedented in the history of Hajj operations put together by the executive secretary of the Board Alhaji Farouk Hamza and other members of the Board for this novel initiative to get prospective pilgrims Oriented and ready for the Holy exercise.

The orientation team will be in Walewale, Bolgatanga and Wa on May 29, May 30 and May 31, 2023 respectively to engage with prospective pilgrims.

The Inaugural flight is scheduled to take place at the Tamale international airport on June 9, 2023 for registered pilgrims from the five regions of the North in specific.
