NNPC announces the return of oil exploration in the lake Chad area

 

 

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has announced the return of oil exploration in the Lake Chad area in Borno state.

 

 

The company stopped the work in July 2017, after some assailants suspected to be members of Boko Haram attacked the workers and kidnapped others.

 

 

The President Muhammadu Buhari has delivered an online address to the inauguration of the oil exploration project in a well located in Tuba town of Jere local government.

 

After the security situation improved in the year 2022, the company decided to return to the project.

 

According to reports, the executive director of the oil exploration division of the NNPC, Mukhtar Zanna, said that there well will be dug to a depth of 14 thousand feet.

 

He said they are confident in the project because they have information and the latest technology.

 

The company said it has a strong belief that large amounts of oil and gas will be found at the location.

 

This is coming shortly after President Muhammadu Buhari inaugurated the Dangote oil refinery in Lagos.
