PDP political thugs reportedly attacks governors wife convoy

Political thugs believed to be loyalists of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) in Osun have reportedly attacked the convoy of the wife of the Governor, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola, in the Owode Ede area of the State.

It was gathered that the incident occurred on Friday night, August 19, 2022, while the first lady was heading to Osogbo, the state capital.

Ede is the home town of the Governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke.

The attack is coming barely two weeks after a list of top Government officials allegedly marked for attack by the opposition PDP surfaced on social media.

Trouble was said to have started when security operatives attached to the First Lady tried to clear the traffic around Owode Ede to allow for easy passage.

Unknown to them, some PDP thugs had positioned themselves and began hauling stones and other dangerous items at the convoy.

Two of the security operatives, according to an eyewitness were hit by the stones and injured which prompted the security operatives, to start shooting into the air to scare away.

“The situation lasted for about five minutes, forcing traders and motorists to run for safety before the convoy eventually escaped the attack”, said the source.

When contacted the Governor’s wife media aide, Iluyomade Oluwatunmise confirmed the attack, saying there was no casualty but some security operatives were injured during the attack.

“It is true the convoy was attacked at Owode-Ede while trying to navigate the traffic around the market. We believe it was premeditated as a list of some top government functionaries marked for the attack had been flying around on social media.
