Saraki, Atiku, Tambuwal others refused to step down

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and other candidates who includes  former Senate President Bukola Saraki and Governors Aminu Tambuwal and Bala Mohammed who are vying for the presidential ticket have refused to withdraw from the race.

This is as the presidential aspirants declined to accept the elders’ request to step down and endorse one of them.

Meanwhile, the PDP would conduct its presidential primary today in Abuja, after which a flagbearer would emerge to battle for the nation’s number one seat in 2023.

Sources revealed that the party leaders are doing everything possible to convince them to put out a front face who can stand against governor Wike of Rivers state but all refused to head the plea.

A source familiar with the late-night meeting said: “A lot of them don’t believe Wike can win the general election but as it is it is almost clear that he can coast to victory if the northern candidates didn’t close their ranks.”
