NAHCON holds one-day seminar for states information officers on Hajj/Covid communication

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria NAHCON has organised a one-day training exercise for all the States board public relations officers across the country including the FCT.

The training is a bid to bridge the gap in the passage of information on Hajj communication and the Covid-19 pandemic.

The seminar is coming in handy at a time foreign pilgrims will not be able to participate in the 2021 Hajj exercise, which is the second year in a row since the outbreak of Covid-19.

The Chairman/CEO national Hajj Commission of Nigeria Barr. Zikrullahi Hassan in his opening speech underscored the importance of communication which he said;

“The theme of this event Hajj, communications and Covid-19 pandemic is among the topical issues of Interest in the field of Hajj today.

This brings to mind the raw fear of covid-19, which made Hajj impossible for International pilgrims for two seasons running. Still, under this fear of the pandemic, we were subliminally reminded how important Communication is in determining what International pilgrims were to plan for or what not to.”

The chairman further speaks on whether or not the 2022 Hajj will hold, this, according to him is scientific which even the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia cannot predict if Hajj will hold.
