The House of Representatives has today Tuesday 20th April held a valedictory session of one of a colleague who died in December 2020.
Speaker Gbajabiamila said the house has lost somebody who has made the work of legislation a worthwhile. He narrated his final moment with him while on his sick bed in the hospital abroad, Gbajabiamila said after meeting and speaking with Ossy prestige he knew that was going to be their last meeting because of the things the honorable member said to him.
The speaker further said that there has been hallowness, a very big void which is visible to everyone since the demise of late Ossy Prestige. He described him as aman who create character. Prays for almighty God to grant him eternal rest.
He said’ the house will miss him, Nigeria will miss him and the people of Abia North and south will miss him, but he is a very good man who lived a life worthy of emulation”
Ossy Prestige was a member representing Aba north federal constituency before his demise, he was a politician, a business man and many more.
Honorable Nko Nkoli a colleague and also an Abia state representative describe Honorable Ossy Prestige as an easy going man who has the interest of his constituants at heart.
He said;
“Honorable Prestige was a friend and not just a colleague, we used to be very close and I will greatly missed him. To the family, wife and childre coincidentally, ossy’s younger brother was my junior at the federal government college Umuahi, but we cannot question God, we can just pray for his soul to rest in peace, please accept my deepest condolences as a representative of Aba North and south, I know that we lost a colleague and a member who was also a member of the ” House Of Common, may the almighty rest his soul.”.
Honourable Chidoka on the other hand said during the 8th assembly, “I called him Presidio and he fondly replies me, that voice refused to go away”
He also prays for God to console his immediate family, Colleagues and the entire constituency, he also prays to God for journey mercy as his body is being conveyed back home.
Those in attendance include the family members of the deceased, deputy speaker of Abia state Dr Ikpezue, wives of the south-east House of Representatives Members, elders from the state, party members of APGA among others.
House leader Hon. Ado Doguwa on his part consoles the entire house and family members of the late Ossy prestige but urged the honourable members to use the death of their three honourable colleagues who died recently as a lesson to stand firm and work diligently to their constituents.
The Honourable members all later stepped out to where the deceased was lying in state and paid their last respect by going round the coffin to bid their colleague goodbye. The House later adjourned till Wednesday 22nd .
Ossy Prestige will be buried on Saturday in his hometown in Abia State.
