NAF fighter jet gone missing in Borno-updated

A Nigerian Air Force fighter jet has reportedly gone missing while assisting troops in one of the theaters of action in the northern part of the country

The jet allegedly went missing while on a mission in Borno State, the epicenter of the Boko Haram insurgency.

Reports indicated that the aircraft lost radar communication during a routine flight, according to NAF spokesperson Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet.

According to the brief release, the aircraft was assisting troops in one of the theaters of action in the northern part of the country.

Efforts are currently ongoing to locate it’s whereabouts. Details to follow shortly,” Gabwet said.

Nigeria’s Armed Forces are fighting Boko Haram terrorists in the northeast and bandits in other parts of the country in a number of Theaters of Operation.

In February, seven members of the Force were killed when an aircraft crashed near the Abuja airportseveralering engine failure.

The plane was en route to Niger State to assist in the rescue of schoolchildren abducted by bandits.
