FG is neglecting Benue, Ayu alleges

A former president of the Senate Dr Iorchia Ayu has described as surprising the level Benue State was being neglected by the Federal Government.

Ayu insisted the state was part of the federation and, therefore, deserved better treatment.

Speaking at the inauguration of the newly built Ahmadu Bello way in Gboko, he wondered why the government would refuse to turn its attention to Benue but would rather prioritise the building of a railway to the Niger Republic, saying it was unacceptable. But the Federal Government has denied building rail into the Niger Republic. The rail line will terminate at the border, insisted President Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Garba Shehu.

The former university don stated that those using the roads were not only Benue indigenes as some of the roads linked other states with the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) making it even more necessary to be looked into.

“The Federal Government has neglected Benue completely and I wonder why they will abandon all the federal roads here to decay but elect to build a rail line to the Niger Republic.”
