light aircraft crashed on landing at Egypt’s Gouna Airport on the Red Sea coast on Thursday, August 6, killing the two pilots on board.
The two-seater private tour plane, registered to Airman Sky Sports, was on a test flight when it crashed, Egypt’s civil aviation ministry spokesman Bassem Abdel Karim said.
Egypt’s prosecutor general and the civil aviation ministry have both launched investigations to look into the accident and identify the causes of the crash.
Egyptian Civil Defense authorities received reports of an airplane that crashed on landing at al-Gouna Airport on Thursday morning, killing the plane’s two pilots.
Four civil defense vehicles were immediately dispatched to the scene to treat the two men, who subsequently died of their wounds.
Medical workers in the Red Sea Governorate reported that the victims are Mohamed Saeed Khalil Mohamed al-Seroojy, 61, and Akram Khalil Khalid Hasan al-Hossary, 36.
The sources added that the plane, which belongs to the private company Air Man, was on a recreational flight over the resort-town of Gouna.
