?The Federal Government has declared Thursday, October 1, 2026, a public holiday in commemoration of Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.

?Announcing the holiday on behalf of the Federal Government, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, extended warm congratulations to Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora.

The announcement was contained in an official statement issued by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.

?Dr. Tunji-Ojo called on citizens to embrace unity, patriotism, peaceful coexistence, and mutual respect, emphasizing that national stability remains a vital foundation for sustainable development.
