Former President Goodluck Jonathan has inaugurated 18 completed township road projects covering 49 kilometres in Bauchi metropolis and laid the foundation for four recreational parks.

Jonathan inaugurated the projects on Monday in Bauchi, describing the infrastructure as purposeful investments that would improve the quality of life and stimulate socio-economic development in the state.

He said reliable infrastructure remained critical to economic growth because it connected communities, facilitated commerce and created opportunities for residents.

The former president urged the people of Bauchi to protect the newly completed roads and other public infrastructure to ensure their sustainability and continued benefits to the people.

Jonathan also recalled Gov. Bala Mohammed’s service as a minister in his administration, describing him as a committed and competent public servant.

He commended the governor for his continued commitment to the development of Bauchi State.

Responding, Mohammed expressed appreciation to the former president for inaugurating the projects.

He said the 18 township road projects were executed at an estimated cost of N13.7 billion, while the four recreational parks were valued at about N4.6 billion.

The governor said the projects were designed to improve transportation, stimulate commercial activities, enhance security and promote public health and residents’ well-being.

Mohammed, who described the projects as part of his administration’s urban renewal programme, assured citizens that all ongoing projects would be completed before the end of his tenure.
