PRESIDENT TINUBU EXTENDS TENURES OF CORRECTIONAL AND IMMIGRATION CHIEFS TO ADDRESS SUCCESSION GAP

?President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved an 18-month tenure extension for Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, and Kemi Nanna Nandap, Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service.

Following the presidential approval, Nwakuche’s tenure will now run through May 26, 2028, while Nandap’s tenure has been extended to June 30, 2028.

?The decision follows a formal recommendation by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, aimed at addressing a succession gap within both security agencies and granting the governing board sufficient time to process and appoint successors.

Commending both service heads for the institutional reforms achieved under their stewardship, President Tinubu charged them to consolidate these gains during their extended terms.

?Nwakuche was nominated as Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service in December 2024 and subsequently confirmed by the Senate in March 2025.

Nandap was nominated to lead the Nigeria Immigration Service on February 21, 2024, receiving Senate confirmation on March 1, 2024.

The official announcement was issued on Monday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
