Information Minister Idris Felicitates General Ibrahim Babangida at 85, Extols Legacy of Statesmanship

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has congratulated former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, on his 85th birthday, honoring him as an elder statesman whose service occupies a monumental place in Nigeria’s contemporary history.

?In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Rabiu Ibrahim, the Minister highlighted that General Babangida’s career spanning military service, national leadership, and elder statesmanship marks a pivotal chapter in the nation's political and institutional evolution.


Idris noted that decades after stepping down from public office, the former leader has maintained an active commitment to Nigeria's unity, stability, and ongoing development.

?"General Babangida’s vast experiences in leadership and public service constitute a rich reservoir from which succeeding generations can draw vital lessons on the complexities and duties of nation-building," Idris stated.

?The Minister concluded his tribute by wishing the former Military President continued good health, peace, and fulfillment, praying that he remains surrounded by the warm affection of his family and the lasting goodwill of the Nigerian public.
