Former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, has strongly denied reports linking him to an illegal mining site in Niger State where several arrests were recently made, describing the publication by Sahara Reporters as baseless, false, and misleading.
?Speaking through a statement issued on his behalf by Dr. Danladi Umar Abdulhamid, former Niger State Commissioner of Information, General Babangida urged the public to completely disregard the report.
He noted that it was troubling for the media outlet to publish such damaging allegations while explicitly admitting within the same article that the claim was unverifiable.
?General Babangida emphasized that he has no connection whatsoever with the mining site or its operations.
While acknowledging Sahara Reporters' contributions to investigative journalism in Nigeria, he reminded the platform that credible reporting demands strict adherence to accuracy, fairness, objectivity, and thorough verification before making allegations of such magnitude.
He demanded an immediate correction of the false narrative to set the record straight.
