Former Bauchi State Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 election, His Excellency Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar, SAN, has congratulated the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Bauchi State Branch, on the successful conduct of its Annual General Meeting and election of new state officers.
The election, held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, ushered in a new leadership team led by Dr. Kabir Abdullahi as Chairman. Other elected officials include Dr. Bello Ibrahim as Vice Chairman, Dr. Nur Gazali as Secretary, Dr. Gabi Umar as Assistant Secretary, Dr. Suleiman Aminu Tukur as Financial Secretary, Dr. Ya’u Julde as Treasurer, and Dr. Auwal Kwankiyel as Public Relations Officer.
In his congratulatory message on Sunday, Abubakar urged the newly elected executives to uphold professionalism, ethical standards, and commitment to the welfare of medical practitioners and other healthcare workers.
He stressed the need for collective efforts to improve healthcare delivery and address the state’s poor health indicators.
Reflecting on his administration between 2015 and 2019, Abubakar highlighted support previously extended to the association, including the donation of an 18-seater bus, issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy for an NMA secretariat site, and implementation of the CONMESS salary structure for medical officers.
He also outlined plans to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, improve workforce welfare, expand emergency services, and attract development partners.
Abubakar expressed confidence that collaboration with the NMA and other stakeholders would help deliver accessible, resilient, and high-quality healthcare for the people of Bauchi State.
