Foreign Affairs Minister of State Partners with Retired Diplomats to Revitalize Nigeria's Foreign Service


?The Honourable Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, has announced plans to establish a structured framework that leverages the institutional knowledge and expertise of retired diplomats to strengthen Nigeria's Foreign Service.



Receiving a delegation of retired ambassadors led by Ambassador Roddy Igwebuike Nwokeabia at the Ministry's headquarters in Abuja, the Minister emphasized that repositioning the nation's diplomacy is a shared responsibility requiring sustained partnership across generations.




The delegation congratulated the Minister on what they described as a timely, well-deserved appointment, expressing full confidence in his capacity to drive meaningful reforms while offering their total support through mentoring younger officers and providing policy guidance.



In response, Ambassador Enikanolaiye commended the senior diplomats for their decades of dedicated service and disclosed that the Ministry will actively integrate retired ambassadors into capacity-building initiatives, in-house training, policy retreats, and strategic consultations to preserve institutional memory and advance Nigeria's strategic national interests on the global stage.
