The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has paid a collaborative visit to the Controller- General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCoS, Sylvester Nwakuche.

The meeting focused on strengthening intelligence sharing between the Police and the Nigerian Correctional Service.

Both leaders also discussed deliberate efforts to review cases and decongest custodial centres, particularly addressing the high number of awaiting trial inmates.

The Correctional Service notes that awaiting trial inmates currently make up about sixty-five percent of the total inmate population.

The visit underscores ongoing inter-agency collaboration to improve the criminal justice system and enhance custodial management.
