Today, we honor the unstoppable force that is Nigerian women. From the markets of Lagos to the boardrooms of Abuja, our women are breaking barriers, shattering glass ceilings, and paving the way for a more inclusive tomorrow.
The theme "Give to Take Pride" is a call to action – to invest in Nigerian women, to empower them, and to create opportunities for them to thrive. Because when we support women, everyone benefits. We see it in our economy, in our communities, and in our families.
Nigerian women are solution-givers. They're entrepreneurs, innovators, and leaders. They're mothers, sisters, and daughters who juggle multiple roles with strength and grace. From Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka's daughter, Murewa, advocating for girls' education, to Folorunsho Alakija, one of Africa's richest women, investing in the next generation – Nigerian women are giving back and taking pride in shaping their nation.
But there's still work to be done. We need more inclusion, more opportunities, and more support for women to reach their full potential. Let's champion policies that promote women's empowerment, provide access to education and finance, and celebrate women's achievements.
To Nigerian women, I say: keep shining, keep pushing boundaries, and know that your efforts are not in vain. Your resilience inspires us all. Let's give to take pride – in ourselves, in our communities, and in Nigeria.
Happy International Women's Day!
