The Gombe State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Asma’u Muhammad Iganus, has called on residents of Shongom Local Government Area to come out in large numbers to register and revalidate their membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The commissioner made the call during a grassroots mobilisation tour across Shongom, where she visited the seven district palaces and engaged traditional rulers and community members on the importance of participating in the ongoing APC registration and revalidation exercise.
Hon. Iganus was accompanied by politicians from the area, officials of the local government council, as well as the Deputy Chairman of the council.
Addressing residents during the visit, the commissioner said the tour was aimed at strengthening the presence of the APC at the grassroots and ensuring that people were fully sensitised on the registration process.

“We are here on advocacy to call on our people to come out and register and revalidate. With the new digital system, registration can be done using mobile phones, and where there is no network, information can be captured and uploaded later,” she said.
She expressed optimism that participation from the area would increase within a short period.
“Our expectation is that within 72 hours our numbers will be properly updated through the dashboard system,” she added.
Hon. Iganus also pointed to the achievements of Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya as a reason for residents to identify with the ruling party, noting that the administration’s development efforts across the state should encourage wider support.
She further urged district heads to mobilise their indigenes, including those living outside the state and in the diaspora, to forward their National Identification Numbers (NIN) for registration in their respective communities.
“This is not only about party politics. Registration gives people identity and strength in numbers. Each ward should not have fewer than 3,000 registered members,” she stressed.
Responding on behalf of the traditional rulers, the District Head of Kushi, Alhaji Ali Sarkin Bariki, pledged to comply with the directive by calling on his subjects to participate fully in the exercise.
He also reminded the governor of his commitment to rebuild some palaces in the area, assuring him of the continued support of the communities.
Communities visited during the tour include Shongom, Gundale, Gwamdum, Burak, Kushi, Bangunji and Filiya.
