NIGERIA OWES WOMEN AN ECONOMY MATCHING THEIR LABOUR - SAYS VP SHETTIMA



?Vice President Kashim Shettima has advocated for a conducive business environment for Nigerian women, declaring that the nation owes them an economy worthy of their labour.



Speaking in Katsina State during the flag-off of the Community Investment Fund disbursement under the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up Project at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, VP Shettima emphasized that over 40,000 eligible women in the state are set to receive business capital to expand their enterprises.



He noted that the initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms aimed at strengthening citizens' earning capacities and improving household livelihoods across the nation.


?During his visit, Vice President Shettima also commissioned 32 compressed natural gas-powered buses, 200 electric tricycles, and several newly completed road projects under the Katsina State Comprehensive Urban Renewal Programme to enhance urban mobility and traffic connectivity.


The event featured the receipt of additional state government counterpart funding, with Governor Dikko Umaru Radda announcing an extra ?4 billion commitment—bringing Katsina's total pledge to the women's empowerment initiative to ?8 billion.


The official visit concluded with the reception of key political figures into the All Progressives Congress, including former Secretary to the State Government Dr. Mustapha Inuwa alongside dozens of national and state assembly aspirants from opposition parties.
