?President Bola Tinubu has approved a salary increase ranging between 30 and 80 percent for approximately 250,000 personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

?The new pay structure, effective September 1, raises the nation’s annual military wage bill from N660 billion to N924 billion. Under the approved framework, officers above the rank of Colonel—including Brigadier-Generals, Major-Generals, Lieutenant-Generals, and Generals—will receive a 30 percent salary hike.

Officers from the rank of Colonel down to Warrant Officer will see a 50 percent increase, while personnel from Private to Staff Sergeant will benefit from an 80 percent boost.

?Reiterating his commitment to troop welfare, President Tinubu praised the sacrifices of service members fighting banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism across the country, emphasizing that national security remains fundamental to Nigeria's growth.

?"The men and women who help to keep us safe in our homes must be supported and appreciated in the course of their duties to our nation," President Tinubu said. "Our administration will continue to prioritise troop welfare and modernise the armed forces by providing the weapons and technological tools needed to discharge their duties."

?He urged servicemen to view the pay review as a token of national gratitude and called for continued dedication in neutralizing security threats across the country.
