The  Aminu Saleh College of Education (ASCOE), Azare, has recorded a major milestone in its institutional development following the official assent to the Aminu Saleh College of Education Law, 2026, by the  Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Abdulkadir Muhammed, CON (Kauran Daular Usmaniyya), on July 15, 2026.

The development was disclosed in a statement signed by the Deputy Registrar, Information, Protocol and Linkages, Suleiman Shehu, and made available to journalists on Monday.

According to the statement, the enactment of the law provides the legal framework for the implementation of the College’s Dual Mandate Policy, enabling the institution to award its own bachelor’s degrees alongside the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE). 

The initiative is in line with approvals granted by the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) and the National Universities Commission (NUC).

The College described the legislation as a landmark achievement that reflects the Bauchi State Government’s commitment to strengthening higher education, improving access to quality teacher education and advancing human capital development.

Provost of the College, Professor Asabe Sadiya Mohammed, expressed profound appreciation to Governor Bala Mohammed for his visionary leadership and unwavering support for the education sector. 

The institution also commended the Bauchi State House of Assembly, particularly its House Committee on Education, for facilitating the successful passage of the bill.

The College further acknowledged the contributions of the Secretary to the State Government, the Commissioner for Higher Education and Regional Integration, and the Ministry of Justice.

ASCOE disclosed that preparations for admission into its Dual Mandate degree programmes are at an advanced stage, while urging prospective applicants and the public to await official admission announcements.
