NCDMB Rewards Engineering Innovation, Awards ?50m to Nigerian Engineering Olympiad Champions


The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has reinforced its commitment to developing indigenous engineering talent by rewarding outstanding innovations at the maiden Nigerian Engineering Olympiad in Lagos. 


Team Mavericks from Modibbo Adama University, Yola, emerged overall winners with their "Sarafa Community Security Alert" system, receiving a ?50 million cash prize, while their Faculty of Engineering will benefit from a new Centre of Excellence sponsored by NCDMB. 


Other top-performing teams from the University of Ibadan, University of Jos, and University of Nigeria, Nsukka, also received substantial cash prizes and engineering equipment for innovations in healthcare, agriculture, and energy. 


The Olympiad, organised by ENACTUS Nigeria with support from NCDMB, Renaissance Africa Energy Company, and First E&P, attracted 984 students from 80 tertiary institutions nationwide. 


NCDMB said the initiative reflects its long-term strategy to build local engineering capacity, promote entrepreneurship, and prepare young Nigerians to develop homegrown solutions that will drive industrial growth, technological advancement, and economic diversification.
