The Office of the Grand Chief Imam of Oyo Land, Sheikh Al-Imam Barrister Bilal Husayn Akinola Akeugberu, heartily congratulates Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Imam Fulani on his well-deserved appointment as the Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirate by His Royal Highness, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR.

The emergence of Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki, a scholar of remarkable pedigree, sound Islamic learning, and proven commitment to the propagation of Islam, is a testimony to his dedication, competence, and service to the Ummah.

The Grand Chief Imam of Oyo Land notes with delight the rich academic and spiritual background of the new Chief Imam, as well as his longstanding contributions to Islamic education, Da'wah, and community development. We pray that Almighty Allah grants him wisdom, strength, sound health, sincerity, and divine guidance as he assumes this important responsibility.

At a time when our nation faces serious security challenges, including terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, violent extremism, and other forms of criminality, religious leaders have a sacred responsibility to complement government efforts in promoting peace, unity, justice, and moral values within society.

The Grand Chief Imam of Oyo Land therefore emphasizes the need for stronger collaboration among Imams, Islamic scholars, traditional institutions, community leaders, and government agencies in the collective fight against insecurity and social vices.

Mosques and religious institutions must continue to serve as centres for moral reorientation, peaceful coexistence, and the promotion of authentic Islamic teachings that reject violence and extremism in all its forms.
