The Oyo State League of Imams and Alfas, alongside the Muslim Community of Oyo State, gathered at Yidi Agodi Praying Ground in Ibadan on Sunday to seek divine intervention for the safe release of 46 teachers and pupils abducted by terrorists in Oriire Local Government Area on May 15.
The prayer session, led by the Grand Chief Imam of Oyo State, Sheikh Abdul-Ganiyy Abubakar Agbotomokekere, drew hundreds of Islamic clerics and community leaders.
Religious leaders condemned the abduction, stressing that the perpetrators do not represent Islam, and called on citizens to support security agencies with useful intelligence.
Speakers at the event warned that continued attacks on schools could threaten access to education and urged government authorities to strengthen security across vulnerable communities.
The gathering also offered prayers for peace, the safe return of all captives, and an end to kidnapping and banditry
