The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has called for stronger collaboration from traditional institutions, the judiciary, security agencies, and other critical stakeholders in Nasarawa and Plateau states to confront economic and financial crimes.
?Olukoyede made the call through the Acting Zonal Director of the Abuja Zonal Directorate, Assistant Commander of the EFCC (ACE I) Michael Wetkas, during institutional engagements across both states between October 2 and October 6, 2026.
?In Nasarawa State, the delegation visited the Emir of Lafia, His Royal Highness Justice Sidi Dauda Bage (retd.); the Chief Judge of Nasarawa State, Justice Aisha Mohammed Usman; and the State Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed.
?At the palace of the Emir of Lafia, Olukoyede described the visit as an opportunity to seek the "father’s blessing" while raising concerns over the increasing involvement of young people in cybercrime.
He urged traditional rulers and communities to help restore social values. Responding, the Emir commended the EFCC, describing it as "one of the most important agencies that has contributed significantly to keeping the country together."

?Engaging with Chief Judge Justice Aisha Mohammed Usman, the EFCC Chairman highlighted the growing menace of investment fraud.
Justice Usman assured the Commission of the judiciary's readiness to work closely with the EFCC, "particularly through the timely consideration of emergency applications required to facilitate the Commission’s operations and enhance the effectiveness of its investigations."
State Police Commissioner Shetima Jauro Mohammed similarly pledged inter-agency backing, noting there was "no fundamental difference in the objectives of the two agencies when it comes to protecting the citizens and combating criminality."
?In Plateau State, the delegation met with the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 3 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Maxwell W. Dangana, at Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos.
Olukoyede emphasized the need for joint efforts to tackle cybercrime and illegal mining, noting that illicit mining activities constitute "more than an environmental and regulatory challenge while creating the avenue for economic and financial crimes to thrive."
?Major General Dangana affirmed 3 Division's readiness to support EFCC field operations and requested the Commission to organize a dedicated sensitization session on investment scams for military personnel to protect them from fraudulent schemes.
