Police recover a hand grenade in Maiduguri

The Police Command in Borno has safely recovered one unexploded Ordnance, UXO, suspected to be a hand grenade in the Moduganari area of Maiduguri.


This is contained in a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, on Saturday in Maiduguri 


According to the statement, the recovery followed a report received at about 12:40pm on Friday regarding a suspected UXO found on a drainage slab. 


Acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, psc, operatives of the EOD-CBRN Base 13, Maiduguri, were promptly deployed to the scene and successfully evacuated the device.


“The recovered UXO has been secured for further examination, while investigations are ongoing to determine its origin and circumstances surrounding its discovery.


CP Abdulmajid commended members of the public for their vigilance and prompt report. 


He urged residents to avoid touching, moving, or tampering with any suspected explosive device and to report such to the nearest Police Station.
