Radio Nigeria Horizon FM Dutse Gets New Executive


Umar Abubakar Ladan has emerged as the new Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Radio Nigeria Horizon FM Chapel, Dutse, following a consensus election conducted by members of the chapel.


The election, held on Wednesday at the premises of Radio Nigeria Horizon FM in Dutse, Jigawa State, followed the expiration of the tenure of the immediate past executive committee.


The exercise was supervised by the Chairman of the NUJ Jigawa State Council, Comrade Ismail Ibrahim Dutse, alongside the State Vice Chairman, Comrade Nura Sani Bello.


Before his election, Ladan served as the Vice Chairman of the chapel.


Other members of the newly elected executive include Abdullahi Aminu Jauhn as Vice Chairman; Bala Haruna Dan Hardo as Secretary; Adamu Aliyu Muhammad as Assistant Secretary; Abdul'Azeez Muhammad Hadejia as Treasurer; and Yusuf Muhammad Sani Auyo as Financial Secretary.


Speaking during the inauguration, the Chairman of the NUJ Jigawa State Council, Comrade Ismail Ibrahim Dutse, expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the election. 


He urged NUJ chapels across the state to prioritize in-house training for journalists to enhance professional capacity.


He also called on journalists in Jigawa State to comply with the National Secretariat's directive on the revalidation of membership, describing the exercise as vital to strengthening the union nationwide.


In his remarks, the General Manager of Radio Nigeria Horizon FM, Alhaji Habibu Nuhu Kila, commended the NUJ Jigawa State Council for ensuring a smooth and successful leadership.


 He expressed confidence in the ability of the newly elected executive to advance the affairs of the chapel.


In his acceptance speech, the new Chairman, Umar Abubakar Ladan, pledged to work diligently to promote the welfare and progress of the union. 


He appreciated the NUJ Jigawa State Council for providing effective leadership and ensuring a peaceful consensus process.


Ladan also paid tribute to the immediate past executive for revitalizing the activities of the chapel and restoring members' confidence in the union.
