The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has urged personnel of the Nigerian Army to demonstrate professionalism, discipline and accountability in the conduct of their duties.

Shaibu gave the directive on Friday during an operational visit to the 33 Artillery Brigade, Shadawanka Barracks in Bauchi, a formation under the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army with a critical role in counter-insurgency and internal security operations in the North-East.

Addressing officers and soldiers, the army chief stressed the need for troops to translate acquired training and capabilities into effective field performance.

He called on personnel to remain committed to ethical conduct, noting that discipline, integrity and transparency must guide all actions, including proper documentation and adherence to laid-down procedures.

Shaibu commended troops serving in difficult and remote locations, describing their efforts as commendable, while urging them to maintain high standards and strict compliance with operational directives.

He emphasised the importance of force protection, directing commanders to prioritise the safety of personnel as a key element of mission success.

At the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps, Obienu Barracks, the COAS reaffirmed the army’s commitment to improved welfare, enhanced training and modern equipment.

He encouraged troops to remain vigilant and mission-focused, assuring them of continued support as they respond to evolving security challenges.
