Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu Assures 2027 South-East Support for President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, declared on Saturday that the South-East region has unanimously resolved to re-elect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 presidential election.

?Speaking at the flag-off of the APC Women's Mobilization Campaign and South-East Women Empowerment Programme in Enugu hosted by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu Kalu stated that the region's mandate is to support a leader who has consistently backed the Igbo people.

He cited President Tinubu's inclusion of South-East figures, such as Ben Akabueze, during his tenure as Lagos State Governor, as well as the protection of Igbo businesses and properties in Lagos as historical proof of his goodwill.

?Kalu highlighted key policy achievements under the current administration, noting that after decades of inaction by previous governments following the Nigerian Civil War, President Tinubu fulfilled the long-delayed promise of reconstruction, rehabilitation, and reintegration.

He emphasized the President's signing of the South East Development Commission Bill into law—an initiative that had stalled across multiple legislative sessions—alongside ongoing regional infrastructure developments, loans, and educational scholarships.

?Addressing the political trajectory of the region, the Deputy Speaker asserted that the South-East will not settle for a truncated four-year presidential term when its turn arrives, demanding a full eight-year tenure similar to other regions.

He urged Igbo voters across Abia, Enugu, Imo, Ebonyi, and Anambra states to unite behind President Tinubu in 2027, maintaining that supporting the administration's second term remains the region's most strategic political path.
