The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the Judiciary, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and the Nigeria Police Force to maintain neutrality and integrity as the party prepares for its 2025 National Elective Convention.
In a statement issued by the Media Sub-Committee of the PDP Convention Planning Committee, the party expressed concern over alleged “covert attempts” by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to influence democratic institutions and undermine opposition activities.
The PDP cautioned that such interference threatens the integrity of Nigeria’s democracy, accusing the APC of manipulating key state organs to suppress dissent and sustain political dominance.
It warned that any move to disrupt or delay the November convention through legal or political maneuvers would be resisted.
The statement also alleged that “internal saboteurs” were collaborating with external forces to destabilize the party, warning that “nemesis will soon catch up with them.”
It linked these tactics to broader efforts to influence the 2027 general elections and entrench a one-party state.
Reaffirming its unity, the PDP called on members to remain steadfast and uphold the party’s democratic values, recalling the era of former President Goodluck Jonathan as one defined by inclusivity and national stability.
In response, APC chieftain Alhaji Ahmad Isa Tahir dismissed the claims as baseless, insisting that the PDP’s challenges are self-inflicted and that the APC remains confident ahead of 2027.
