Police rescue abducted siblings, bust motorcycle theft ring in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has successfully rescued two abducted siblings and apprehended their kidnapper shockingly revealed to be a close family relative.

This is contained in a statement issued on Saturday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmad Muhammad Wakil,

the police confirmed that the incident occurred on Thursday, October 23, when one Aliyu Hamisu of Tilden Fulani, Toro Local Government Area, reported the abduction of his children, 12-year-old Halima and 6-year-old Mohammed, while they were waiting for their school bus.

Acting on the report, detectives led by CSP Kisaba Rimamnyang swiftly launched an investigation. Preliminary inquiries showed that the children were lured away by a man on a tricycle.

The abductor later demanded ₦50 million in ransom, but reduced it to ₦1.2 million to be delivered at Farmers Motors Junction, Bauchi.

Police operatives, acting on credible intelligence, intercepted the suspect during the ransom collection attempt. Further investigation led to the successful rescue of the children in Anguwan Rukuba, Jos, Plateau State.

The suspect, identified as Abdulkarim Tasiu a relative of the victims confessed to the crime, blaming it on long-standing family disputes.

In a related development, the Command also arrested two motorcycle theft suspects, recovering two stolen motorcycles valued at over ₦350,000.

Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, directed that all suspects be transferred to the State CID for further investigation and prosecution, urging residents to remain alert and report suspicious activities.
