AKPABIO CHARGES NATIONAL ASSEMBLY LEADERSHIP ON SYNERGY, ACCOUNTABILITY, AND ADMINISTRATIVE EXCELLENCE

The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has charged the management of the National Assembly and the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) to strengthen institutional collaboration, enhance administrative efficiency, and foster a culture of accountability in legislative service delivery.

?Speaking on Friday while declaring open a three-day joint retreat for top management staff of the National Assembly and members of the NASC at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, Akpabio emphasized that the overall success of the parliament relies heavily on its administrative foundation.

The retreat was themed, “Strengthening Institutional Synergy, Administrative Effectiveness and Professional Service Delivery in the National Assembly.”

?Represented at the occasion by Senator Babangida Hussaini, the Senate President remarked that the legislature's impact extends beyond its primary duties of lawmaking and oversight to encompass the operational competence and professionalism of its administrative backbone.

He highlighted that no single directorate, department, or agency within the parliamentary structure can thrive in isolation, making deep institutional synergy essential for achieving collective goals.

?Akpabio called on participants to embrace innovation, refine internal administrative processes, and ensure that institutional resources are deployed with maximum efficiency and transparency.

He stressed that professional service delivery demands strict adherence to discipline, integrity, and competence from all personnel supporting the legislative process.

?Addressing the leadership and decision-makers present, the Senate President urged that the gathering must transcend routine dialogue to produce concrete governance outcomes.

He noted that the true metric of success for the retreat lies not in the adoption of resolutions alone, but in the steadfast commitment of stakeholders to implement real, measurable reforms.

?Assuring attendees of his active interest in the outcomes, Akpabio stated that he looks forward to receiving the retreat’s final communiqué for swift consideration and action.

He expressed optimism that the retreat would mark a pivotal turning point toward a more collaborative, efficient, and professional parliamentary administration capable of meeting the democratic expectations of Nigerians.
