This year’s event, themed "Three Years of the 10th Assembly: Advancing Transparency, Inclusion, and Reform," marks the three-year anniversary of the 10th Assembly.
Driven by the core belief that "a parliament that listens earns the trust of the people," Speaker Abbas emphasized that this initiative underscores a commitment to building a legislature that is accessible, accountable, and responsive to every Nigerian.
He noted that "the National Assembly belongs to the people," and this event provides a vital opportunity for citizens to evaluate legislative performance and contribute ideas to strengthen democratic institutions.
?The three-day event promises a robust lineup of people-centered engagements, beginning on Tuesday, July 14, with an official opening ceremony and the unveiling of the Assembly's three-year scorecard inside the House Chambers, followed by an afternoon briefing on oversight and project delivery.
Day two will tackle critical national issues, starting with a morning Security Roundtable focusing on state policing, broader security reforms, and the role of traditional rulers in community safety.
The afternoon session will pivot to a vital national conversation on reserving legislative seats for women and persons with disabilities—a transformative reform aimed at making the nation's democracy more inclusive and equitable.
?The Open Week will wrap up on Thursday, July 16, with a Legislative Business Breakfast designed to foster public-private partnerships that drive economic growth, investment, and job creation.
The final afternoon will feature a Youth Town Hall centered on the 2027 elections, giving young Nigerians a direct platform to discuss their role in shaping the nation's political future.
This initiative builds on the success of the previous editions in 2024 and 2025, reinforcing the Speaker's conviction that "democracy flourishes where there is openness.
