Defence Minister: Education Key Weapon Against Terrorism as DSS Commissions Kaduna Christian Academy

The Minister of Defence, Christopher Gwabin Musa, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to combating terrorism through education, describing schools as powerful tools against radicalisation and violent extremism.

Speaking at the commissioning of the Kaduna Christian Academy in Ungwan Sunday, Chikun LGA of Kaduna State, the minister said quality education is essential to defeating ignorance and hopelessness, which fuel insecurity.

The school, built by the Department of State Services in partnership with private organisations, was praised as a symbol of community resilience, inter-agency cooperation, and inclusive development.

Musa noted that the academy, alongside a similar DSS-built school for the Muslim community in Danbushiya, reflects efforts to promote interfaith harmony and strengthen public confidence in security institutions.

He urged students, parents, teachers, and local residents to protect and support the facility, stressing that education remains one of the most effective long-term strategies for securing Nigeria’s future.

The event was attended by government officials, religious leaders, and traditional rulers, with Governor Uba Sani represented by the state Commissioner for Justice, who pledged continued collaboration to advance development and security.
