The Bauchi State Government has intensified efforts to strengthen governance and improve public service delivery with the commencement of a 5 day capacity building workshop for senior civil servants across the state.
Mr Auwal Jatau, the State Deputy Governor, declaring the workshop open on Monday in Bauchi, said the initiative underscores the administration’s commitment to building a competent and result-oriented civil service capable of driving sustainable development.
Jatau described the training as timely and strategic, noting that a similar programme had not been held in over 20 years.
He stressed that equipping top government officials with modern administrative skills is critical to enhancing efficiency, transparency and policy implementation.
“The civil service remains the backbone of governance. Strengthening its capacity is essential to achieving meaningful development and delivering quality services to the people,” he said.
He highlighted ongoing reforms under Gov. Bala Mohammed, including investments in staff development, digitalisation of government processes and improvements in workers’ welfare.
According to him, the prompt payment of salaries and implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage have boosted morale and productivity within the service.
Earlier, the Head of Civil Service, Sani Umar, said the workshop was designed to address gaps in critical administrative competencies, particularly in areas such as memo writing, report preparation, speech drafting and record management.
He noted that strengthening these foundational skills would significantly improve the quality of decision-making and overall governance outcomes in the state.
