The Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D., GCON, has expressed sadness over the demise of a former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, who died in Saudi Arabia, aged 71.
Expressing grief over Justice Muhammad’s passing, Speaker Abbas described the late ex-CJN as a patriotic Nigerian who would be remembered for his diligent service to the fatherland.
The Speaker, in a condolence message issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, said Justice Muhammad, who could have clocked 72 on December 31, left behind a legacy of service, integrity, and justice.
While noting the reforms initiated by the former CJN through the National Judicial Council (NJC), the Speaker said his legacy will remain for a long time in the history of Nigeria’s judiciary.
Speaker Abbas commiserated with Justice Muhammad’s family, the people, and the government of Bauchi State while extending his condolences to the current CJN, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, GCON, JSC, the NJC, and the entire judiciary.
