North-Eastern University (NEU), Gombe, has enrolled more than 400 newly admitted students at its fourth matriculation ceremony, further consolidating its position as a growing centre of higher learning in the North-East.
The ceremony, held on the university campus, formally ushered the students into various academic programmes, marking the start of their academic journey at the institution.
Addressing the matriculating students, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Yusuph Amuda Yahaya, congratulated them on their admission and urged them to remain disciplined, focused and committed to their studies.
He assured the students of the university’s determination to uphold high academic standards while providing a supportive learning environment equipped with modern facilities and competent academic staff.
The Founder of the university, Dr. Sani Jauro, reminded the students that NEU was established to deliver quality education alongside strong moral values and discipline.
He encouraged them to pursue knowledge with dedication and disclosed that the university has introduced free cooking gas for students as part of its welfare and safety initiatives.
Representing the Gombe State Government, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Muhammad Shettima Gadam, commended the university for its steady progress and contributions to educational development in the state.
He urged the new students to make the most of the opportunity by investing in learning and personal development.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Education, Professor Aishatu Umar Maigari, praised the role of private universities in expanding access to tertiary education and assured NEU of the state government’s continued support.
Traditional leaders, including Alhaji Yaya Hammari, Waziri of Yariman Gombe, and Hayatu Bala Magaji, District Head of Gombe, advised the students to uphold discipline and dedication throughout their academic pursuits.
The ceremony also featured the presentation of awards to outstanding students and was attended by government officials, traditional rulers, parents and other stakeholders in the education sector.
