The Advocacy Centre for Development (AC4D), in partnership with the Nigeria Police Force, Gombe State Command, held a Roundtable Meeting with gender-based officers of the Command on 4th December 2025 at the Police Command Conference Hall.
The meeting focused on the theme:
“Understanding the Difference Between the Penal Code and the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law.”
In his opening remarks, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Yahaya psc+, underscored the importance of strengthening officers’ legal knowledge, particularly in handling gender-based violence cases. He emphasized the need for professionalism, proper application of the law, and enhanced collaboration with civil society. The CP appreciated AC4D and partners for their support and formally declared the meeting open.

The engagement featured presentations and discussions aimed at improving legal understanding, case-handling procedures, and victim-centred approaches within the Command.
