Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar Presented Letters of Credence to The Newly Appointed ECOWAS Permanent Reps.

The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, presented letters of Credence to the newly appointed ECOWAS Permanent Representative, Amb. Olawale Emmanuel Awe and Amb. Mairo Musa Abbas – Consul General, Guangzhou, China; Amb. N.O. Okey-Uche – Consul General, Johannesburg, South Africa; Amb. Ojo Olobode Steve – Consul General, Buea, Cameroon; and Amb. Samalia Goni – Charge D’Affaires, Tripoli, Libya on Friday, 28th November 2025.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Spokesperson of the Ministry, Mr Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, welcomed the dignitaries and underscored the significance of the event as a reaffirmation of Nigeria’s commitment to effective representation worldwide.

Addressing the new appointees, the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasised the changing dynamics of global politics, the need for strategic diplomacy, and the responsibility each envoy bears in promoting and defending Nigeria’s interests abroad. He highlighted the importance of analytical capacity, resilience, and professionalism in addressing contemporary geopolitical challenges.

Responding on behalf of the appointees, the new Permanent Representative to ECOWAS, Ambassador Awe expressed gratitude to the President and the Ministry for the confidence reposed in them, pledging dedication, loyalty, and diligent service in advancing Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives.

The ceremony concluded with group photographs and a call on all newly appointed envoys to maintain close communication with headquarters and share their mission activities for institutional documentation and public communication
