The member representing Alkaleri–Kirfi Federal Constituency, Alhaji Kabiru Yusuf (AKY Makaman Duguri), has launched a large-scale empowerment initiative worth over ₦1 billion, designed to uplift thousands of constituents and strengthen grassroots economic activities.
Unveiling the programme before a massive crowd in Bauchi, the lawmaker said the intervention is aimed at expanding income-earning opportunities and reducing economic hardship across the constituency.
The items distributed include 20 vehicles, 150 motorcycles, 100 sewing machines, 200 water pump machines, 100 wheelchairs for persons with disabilities, and ₦200 million in direct cash support.
AKY Makaman explained that the empowerment targets a wide range of groups, including party officials at ward and local government levels, APC stakeholders, youth organisations, women associations, the elderly, persons with special needs, and loyal supporters who have contributed to the constituency’s political stability.
He urged beneficiaries to put the items to productive use, noting that the ultimate goal is to stimulate local businesses and drive economic growth in both Alkaleri and Kirfi.
He further appealed to constituents who were not captured in the current phase to remain patient, assuring them that additional empowerment programmes will be rolled out soon to accommodate more beneficiaries.
Bauchi State APC Chairman, Alhaji Muhammad Hassan Tilde, commended the initiative, describing it as a model of people-centered representation.
He noted that this marks the sixth major empowerment programme the lawmaker has executed within just two years, reflecting consistent commitment to community development.
Also speaking, the Chairmen of APC Stakeholders in Alkaleri and Kirfi LGAs Alhaji Adamu Umar Gokaru and Barr. Yakubu Yakubu Kirfi praised the lawmaker’s stewardship, stating that no past representative has matched his empowerment footprint.
They urged him to sustain the momentum.
Beneficiaries including Alhaji Iliya Natsira, Hajiya Lami, and Dan Malikin Bara expressed gratitude, promising to use the items to improve their livelihoods and to continue mobilising support for AKY Makaman ahead of the 2027 elections.
