The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Niger State Chapter, has organized a symposium to commemorate World Pharmacists Day, celebrated globally on September 25, 2025. The event, with the theme “Think Health, Think Pharmacists,” brought together stakeholders to discuss the role of pharmacists in advancing healthcare delivery.
Delivering his keynote address, the Guest Speaker, Pharm. Muhammad Alfa Isah, urged the government to fully integrate pharmacists into the health team. He described pharmacists as “the most trusted and accessible professionals,” but lamented that they are often ignored in critical decision-making processes.
Pharm. Isah also encouraged pharmacists to embrace collaboration, create public awareness, and participate actively in politics and governance to strengthen the sector.
Speaking as Guest of Honour, the Member representing Paikoro Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Health, Hon. Umar Nasir Paiko assured the pharmacists of the legislature’s readiness to work with them to improve the sector and enhance their welfare. He further charged pharmacists to “shine their eyes” and engage in meaningful collaborations that will ensure their inclusion in health decision-making.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman of PSN, Niger State Chapter, Ohida Aminu, appreciated the efforts of members and stakeholders in sustaining the society’s mission and called for greater support to advance the profession.
Highlights of the event included a panel discussion on the theme, a question-and-answer session, the swearing-in of new executives, presentation of certificates to outgoing executives, and a group photograph.
